A postcard with three lions roaring in unison (起吼三狮) of the Lugou Bridge (卢沟桥 or more famously known as Marco Polo Bridge). The stone bridge is situated in Fengtai District, Beijing (北京丰台区) across the Yongding River (永定河). It has many stone lion decorations and it has declared as national heritage site together with the nearby Wanping Fortress (宛平县城). It is also the site famous for the starting of Sino-Japanese War in 1937 in the Marco Polo Bridgee Incident. Thanks jekyll618 for this one of the famous sites in Beijing.
A pair of 150 Fen Thai ethnicity's pagoda stamps (1998-8, 4-4) are used to send this postcard. Although the postage (3 Yuan) is only for seamail postcard rate, that is a red-color airmail stamp found on the corner. This card was sent from the place of this postcard shown, Beijing Lugouqiao 1 (北京 卢沟桥 1). The card is sent on 7/7/2009, which is also an anniversary for the Marco Polo Bridge Incident. Additional two scenery postmarks of this place are stamped on the postcard too.
